Blue Skies Stables is happy to announce our first educational offering of the season, The Art of Mane Pulling with Stacy Borelli!  Stacy will be offering up some knowledge increasing workshops at Blue Skies Stables, starting out with this basic horse care workshop.  Learn the Difference between shortening and thinning the mane and how to pull with purpose. Whether for showing/braiding or as a preventative so your four-legged doesn’t resemble Bob Marley, each workshop will be open to four students to learn the tricks of equine coiffure and for hands on work.

Stacy grew up in the Central NJ area and her love for horses was a quickly fostered flame. What started out as a birthday gift from her grandmother when she was ten fast turned into a burning case of equineocitis; excessive love for all things horses! With a humbly successful hunter/eq show career years behind her, she feels permanently stamped and left with indelible memories of equine care and hard work. No, she did not have a push button horse. And no her butler didn’t bus her in from NYC weekly for lessons(although this did happen with a handful of fellow student riders with whom she trained ). Instead, she operated as her own groomer, braider, wound maintainer  and schooling trainer of her wonder horse, George. Wonder, not always! Instead that wild Thoroughbred, rejected at birth by his mother, instiller of fear(wasn’t broke or really worked with until 4 and half) became a lifelong lesson teacher and teammate to Stacy. She often laments that even a horse with a late break and a spookitude can overcome dark corners of the ring and solid death trap jumps with great trainers and patience and lots of schooling and flat work. George mellowed out into the perfect show horse; scopey in the hunter ring and a great friend and teacher to a girl who loved all things horses.

The Art of Mane Pulling is a pre-requisite class to Learning Plait Braiding for the Show Hunter Ring.  This class will be held at Blue Skies Stables new equestrian center directions, and is open to the public.  There is a limited number of participants allowed in order to provide a full hands on experience, and a horse will be provided for each group.
